asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how much derelict or under-utilised land there is in the Bradford metropolitan district council area; who owns it; and how much has been disposed of under the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980.

Information on the total amount of derelict or under-utilised land in the Bradford metropolitan district council area is not available. Separate figures from the 1982 survey of derelict [and in England recorded 326 hectares of such land in the district of which 39 hectares were publicly owned. The figures on land disposed of under-the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980 is not available. Unused or under-utilised land held by the public sector is recorded on the Bradford land register set up under the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1985. Currently 379 hectares are so registered. To date 102 hectares have been removed from the registers, of which 87 hectares have been sold or leased.
