§ Mr. Nicholas Bakerasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, in the light of responses to the consultation document issued by his Department and the Department of Health and Social Security, a decision has been reached on whether to seek to amend the Mental Health Act 1983 in respect of offenders suffering from psychopathic disorder.
§ Mr. HurdMy right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Social Services and I are grateful for the many comments which we received in response to the joint consultation document. We have decided not to proceed with an amendment to the Mental Health Act. But we shall be giving further consideration to the procedural measures proposed in the document.
