§ 22. Mr. Pikeasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will state for the most recent 12 months for which figures are available, the percentage increase in crimes of violence against the person since the 12 months ended March 1979.
§ Mr. MellorIn the 12 months to September 1986 the incidence of crimes of violence against the person was 42 per cent. higher than in the 12 months to March 1979. Between 1979 and 1985 there was a lower rate of increase than between 1975 and 1979.
