§ 85. Mr. Michael McNair-Wilsonasked the Paymaster General what is the current contribution of his Department to the Manpower Services Commission for the sheltered placement scheme.
§ Mr. LeeMy Department has provided the resources to support 1,000 new places under the sheltered placement scheme in 1986–87. This represents a 50 per cent. increase in a single year. By 31 March 1987, the scheme will provide job opportunities for about 2,900 severely disabled people.
On the best information presently available, we expect the scheme to require funding of about £7 million in 1986–87.
