HC Deb 16 December 1986 vol 107 c525W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Paymaster General what representations he has received from the Carnegie United Kingdom Trust concerning the recommendations of "Arts and Disabled People", the report of committee of inquiry under the chairmanship of Sir Richard Attenborough; what action he has taken or will be taking; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Lee

My predecessor met representatives of the Carnegie council last March to discuss the recommendations of this report, following correspondence with my right hon. and noble Friend the Secretary of State and his predecessor. Officials of the Manpower Services Commission are in contact with the council to examine how more community programme projects in the arts can be mounted to help disabled people. We shall also continue to ensure that those in the disablement advisory service and others involved in finding work for disabled people include employers in the arts in their overall programme of visits.
