§ Mr. Teddy Taylorasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will raise, at the next meeting with representatives of the Republic under the Anglo-Irish agreement, the implications of the proposed European Economic Community directive on the abolition of controls on weapons at internal community frontiers with particular reference to cross-border security; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Tom KingNo. It would not be useful to do so until we know the full details of the Commission's proposal concerning the movement of firearms across internal community frontiers. But we will discuss with our Community partners—including the Republic—any firm proposals made by the Commission.
