§ Mr. Chris Smithasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will list the areas around the coast of the United Kingdom bordering the North sea which have been identified by his Department as being environmentally impaired by man-made causes.
§ Mr. GummerHuman activities give rise to an environmental impact wherever they occur. With that in mind, and in accordance with its responsibilities under the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985, my Ministry undertakes a programme of surveillance and research in United Kingdom coastal waters to monitor the impact of sea dumping in order to ensure that it does not cause unacceptable damage to the marine environment.
