§ 56. Mr. Cashasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what success there has been in measures to eradicate sheep scab.
§ Mr. Donald ThompsonFollowing a record 157 outbreaks of sheep scab in 1983, a concentrated effort has been made to control and ultimately eradicate the disease. This has involved, in particular, compulsory dipping nationally twice a year. The results have been encouraging, with 131 outbreaks in 1984, 74 in 1985 and only 46 so far this year. Complete eradication is attainable only with the continued co-operation of the sheep industry.
