§ 45. Mr. Jim Spicerasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if Her Majesty's Government have any evidence of Soviet intervention in Central America; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. EggarThe presence of Soviet military personnel and massive arms supplies are evidence of Soviet intervention in Nicaragua. Military supplies include substantial numbers of Mil-24 helicopter gunships, tanks, armoured veicles, artillery and SA-7 surface-to-air missiles. This extensive military support for Nicaragua, from a country whose record hardly suggests it is interested in the development of genuine democracy, is of legitimate concern to her neighbours.
