§ Mr. WaddingtonCommunity relations councils engage in a wide variety of activity, but a convenient summary description of this under four main heads can be found in chapter 10 of the most recent (1984) annual report of the Commission for Racial Equality. I understand that, following consultation with the National Council of Community Relations Councils, the CRE has recently decided to commission a research project which will examine the different ways in which community relations councils currently operate and make recommendations with a view to improving the effectiveness of "race relations" work at a local level. The research will be undertaken by the Policies Studies Institute and its findings will be made public.
