Mr. Barry Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Transport what assessment he has made on the implications of his decision on the Channel Tunnel Group scheme for a fixed channel link for the respective roles in the scheme of the French high speed train systems and the competing British Rail systems.
§ Mr. David MitchellBritish Rail has agreed in principle with the French railways that services between London and Paris will be provided by a single fleet of trains, which they will jointly manage. Arrangments for other services have yet to be made.
