§ 27. Mr. Mikardoasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what evidence he has as to the extent of the use of chemical weapons by either side in the Iran-Iraq war; arid what information he has as to the sources of supply of such weapons.
§ Mr. RentonThe report of the United Nations Secretary-General, to which I referred in the answer I gave my hon. Friend the Member for York (Mr. Gregory) on 25 March at column412 concluded that chemical weapons had been used by Iraq against Iranian forces.
We understand that the chemical weapons used by the Iraqi forces were manufactured in Iraq. The United Kingdom has at no time supplied chemical weapons to either side in the conflict.
