HL Deb 30 October 1985 vol 467 cc1603-4WA
Baroness Fisher

of Rednal asked Her Majesty's Government:

When they expect the consultative document on the national plan for education of deaf-blind children to be available.

The Earl of Swinton

Her Majesty's Government are not at present engaged in preparing a national plan on this topic. The Department of Education and Science has initiated consultations with interested bodies with a view to producing a discussion document on the problems involved in this difficult field, the provision at present available, and the ways in which, subject to the views of the local authorities and providing bodies, such provision might be developed. It is hoped that a discussion document will be ready in the new year.
