§ Mr. William Powellasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement on progress towards the implementation in the United Kingdom of the European Commission directive on product liability.
§ Mr. HowardMy Department will be issuing a consultative document before the end of this year on implementation of the EC directive on the approximation of the laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the member states concerning liability for defective products. Following this consultation, legislation will be introduced as soon as the parliamentary timetable permits.
