§ Mr. Dickensasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will set up an inquiry into the case of Michelle Bartlett who was in the care of the social services department of the London borough of Wandsworth at the children's home, Wilna Road, Wandsworth.
§ Mr. Whitney[pursuant to the reply, 24 July 1985, c. 601): The death of Michelle Bartlett was the subject of a coroner's inquest on 16 July 1985 at which a verdict of death due to misadventure was recorded and subsequently the subject of a full report to Wandsworth social services committee by the Director of Social Services, which was then made public. Wandsworth has taken action on a number of points raised in the report to further strengthen its procedures in such cases. In view of this, we do not consider that a further inquiry is necessary.
