§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will publish a table indicating for September the average unemployment rate for all development areas and assisted areas, respectively, in Wales, and if he will list those travel-to-work areas within ordinary assisted areas whose unemployment rate is higher than those of development areas.
§ Mr. Nicholas EdwardsOn 12 September 1985 the number of claimants unemployed in development areas and intermediate areas in Wales totalled 74,479 and 97,956 respectively, giving rates of 19.8 per cent. and 17.0 per cent.; there were two travel-to-work areas with intermediate area status whose rates were higher than the average rate for the development areas, Fishguard (21.9 per cent.) and Bangor and Caernarfon (19.9 per cent.).
