Friend the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Defence Procurement, announced on 21 June 1985, at column 248, that it was envisaged that the major part of the Royal Marines barracks, Eastney, would close, subject to further study and to the outcome of consultation. This study and consultation are continuing, and an announcement will be made as soon as possible.
