§ 45. Mr. Gerald Howarthasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many applications his Department has received for regional assistance from companies in the west midlands assisted area.
§ Mr. ButcherSince the designation of intermediate area status on 29 November 1984 my Department has received 597 applications for regional selective assistance in the west midlands. By November 1985 a total of £22 million has been offered in grants, and this is associated with some 13,500 jobs either created or safeguarded.
