HC Deb 27 November 1985 vol 87 c572W
Mr. Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what other research into the areas for further study in chapter 6.1 of the working party report on prostheses, ortheses and aids for the disabled which he published in 1983 has taken place; and if he will state the outcome.

Mr. John MacKay

The areas of study referred to in the report relate predominantly to matters of local service. There is no central record of any research which may have been carried out into these matters by health boards or by local authorities.

The committee for research and equipment for the disabled of the Chief Scientist's Office, Scottish Home and Health Department, is undertaking a major survey of aids and equipment for the disabled which will provide some indirect information on numbers of disabled.
