§ 79. Mr. Altonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what plans he has to increase official aid to agricultural development in poor countries.
§ Mr. RaisonAgricultural development is at the heart of our bilateral aid policy. It covers a wide spectrum from 35W plant genetics to feeder roads. In devising our programmes we have to take account of the wishes of aid recipient countries, but we aim to increase the agricultural content of these programmes where we can. Three new projects now under consideration are a second phase of the Indo-British fertiliser education project, two dry land agricultural projects in the Sudan, and a similar project in Kenya.
