541WDepartment's review of the public health laboratory service; and whether he intends to introduce an amendment to subsection 2(c) of section 5 of the National Health Service Act 1977 to transfer to health authorities responsibility for the administration and funding of the public health laboratory service's regional and area laboratories.
§ Mr. John PattenConsultation is now taking place on the recommendations contained in the report of the review of the public health laboratory service. We have asked for comments by 15 August. We shall consider our own response to the review in the light of the comments we receive.
