HL Deb 22 May 1985 vol 464 cc393-4WA
Lord Harris of Greenwich

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Which London borough councils have so far not made payments to the Receiver of the Metropolitan Police District in the present financial year; and what is the cost to public funds of their failure to do so by the due date.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Home Office (Lord Glenarthur)

The second instalment of the precepts levied by the Receiver for the Metropolitan Police District fell due on 10th May. He tells me that, by that date, all 40 borough and district councils had paid the first two instalments. It is estimated that the delay by three boroughs in paying the first instalment resulted in a loss of investment income to the Metropolitan Police Fund of some £26,000.
