§ Mr. Franksasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs on how many occasions during each of the last 30 years his Department has made 335W representations to the Government of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics about the case of Mr. Raoul Wallenberg; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. RifkindThe information referring to previous Administrations which my hon. Friend has requested could only be obtained at a disproportionate cost. However, in the last three years I have raised this matter twice with the Soviet First Deputy Foreign Minister; and Mr. Wallenberg's name was raised by our conference of security and co-operation in Europe delegation in Madrid in 1983. We shall also bear Mr. Wallenberg in mind in the context of the Ottawa human rights' meeting which is currently in progress. We continue to take a close interest in the fate of Raoul Wallenberg. We remain ready to assist the Swedish authorities in efforts to establish with greater certainty what has happened to Mr. Wallenberg.
