"Smoking—The Scottish Epidemic"

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the document entitled, "Smoking—The Scottish Epidemic", by the Committee on Smoking and Health, a copy of which has been sent to him.

I am grateful to the Scottish Committee of Action on Smoking and Health for this revision of the "Scottish Epidemic" which it first published in 1983. The document brings out in a unique way the tragic extent of premature death and avoidable illness caused by cigarette smoking in Scotland by quoting the statistics on various local bases.
