Mr. Jacksonasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will estimate the approximate net effect on public expenditure of all those retired officers of the rank of colonel and equivalent being given retired pay at the single consolidated rate of £12,152 per annum, less income tax at 30 per cent. on the amount of any overall increase, rather than at the various different rates derived from the different dates of retirement.
Mr. Jacksonasked the Secretary of State for Defence how many officers currently in receipt of service pensions 229W retired with the rank of colonel or equivalent during the periods (a) 1 January 1975 to 31 March 1976 and (b) 1 January 1977 to 31 December 1977.
