§ Mrs. ChalkerExpenditure on highways and transport by the six English metropolitan county councils in 1984–85 has been supported by Transport Supplementary Grant (TSG). The amounts of grant are as follows:
£ million Greater Manchester 22,875 Merseyside 26,628 South Yorkshire 7,413 Tyne and Wear 9,084 West Midlands 17,831 West Yorkshire 22,130 Total 105,961 The councils also receive Rate Support Grant. From 1985–86 TSG will be confined to highways capital expenditure.
