HC Deb 25 March 1985 vol 76 c29W
Mr. Corbyn

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what is the cost of the consultation exercise in respect of the east London road assessment study.

Mrs. Chalker

£11,500 has been spent on press advertising and leaflet distribution inviting people to express their views on the problems.

Mr. Corbyn

asked the Secretary of State for Transport which organisations have been invited to give evidence to the east London road assessment study.

Mrs. Chalker

Press advertisements and distributed leaflets have invited views on transport-related problems from all who live, work and travel in the study area. In addition, specific aproaches have been made to a large number of national, London-wide and local interests.

Mr. Corbyn

asked the Secretary of State for Transport when the results of the east London road assessment study are expected to be announced.

Mrs. Chalker

The consultants' report on phase I of the study—identification of problems—is expected in the summer and will be published shortly thereafter. In advance of receiving this I cannot predict the duration of the next stage to explore and report on possible solutions, but I would expect this to take some time.
