HC Deb 25 March 1985 vol 76 cc3-4W
29. Mr. Freud

asked the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State answering in respect of the Arts if he will make a statement on the implications of the Budget for the Arts.

30. Sir David Price

asked the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State answering in respect of the Arts what effect he estimates the Budget statement of 19 March will have upon the public and private funding of the arts, respectively.

Mr. Waldegrave

My right hon. Friend announced a package of measures to promote employment, which should enable arts bodies to make more productive use of their subsidies.

I believe that the announcement of increased relief at the higher rates of tax for convenants to charities will prove a valuable incentive to private support for the arts.
