§ Mr. Hordernasked the Secretary of State for Defence whether subsidies are received by members of Her Majesty's forces serving in the United States of America.
§ Mr. LeeMembers of Her Majesty's forces serving in the United States of America are paid, in addition to their military salary, a number of allowances to offset the essential extra costs which they incur in living and working in their overseas station compared with the United Kingdom. These allowances are kept under regular review. Deductions continue to be made from the salary of these personnel for appropriate charges, such as those for accommodation, which they would pay if they were stationed in the United Kingdom.
