§ 53. Mr. Allen MacKayasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will seek an opportunity to raise individual cases of abuse of human rights in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics at the forthcoming Ottawa meeting to discuss CSCE issues.
§ Mr. RifkindIt is not our practice to give a commitment in advance of such discussions to raise individual cases but they are something we shall have very530W much in mind when the Ottawa meeting discusses, as its mandate requires it to do, questions concerning respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms as embodied in the Helsinki final act.
