asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will publish figures showing for 1982–83, 1983–84 and an estimate for 1984–85, the numbers in England of (a) full-time trainees, (b) apprentices and (c) trainees on day release courses.

- (a) The 1983 labour force survey shows that there were about 280,000 people undertaking apprenticeship training in the spring of 1983.
- (b) There were 409,000 students on day and block release courses in 1982–83 and 448,000 in 1983–84.
