HC Deb 12 March 1985 vol 75 c116W
Sir Dudley Smith

asked the Secretary of Slate for Social Services how many National Health Service prescriptions were written in 1983 for preparations ranging from tablets to formula A10 to tablets to formula B100 as listed on pages 25 to 28 of his proposed list of drugs and other substances not to be available at the expense of the National Health Service from 1 April 1985.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

Our one in 200 sample records no prescriptions for these preparations in 1983. However, they are all prescribable products falling within the therapeutic categories covered by the selected list. They have been included in the list of products not to be available at National Health Service expense from 1 April so that savings are not eroded by prescriptions for these products as replacements for others to be removed from NHS supply.
