§ Mr. WaldegraveLocal authorities in England have budgeted to spend £10.1 billion on education in 1984–85. This represents 47 per cent. of all local authority net current expenditure. Rate income (net of domestic rate relief grant and rate rebates for the year) is estimated to be £11.1 billion.
