HC Deb 11 March 1985 vol 75 cc45-6W
Mr. Steel

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he has plans to seek to amend the Truck Acts to allow employers to insist on cashless pay.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

As the then Secretary of State for Employment announced on 21 July 1983 at column214, the Government propose in due course to invite Parliament to repeal the Truck Acts and associated legislation and to replace them with up-to-date provisions concerning deducations from wages.

The method of payment of wages will then be a matter for agreement between the employer and employee.
