§ Mr. Radiceasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what was the average salary of full-time primary and secondary school teachers, excluding heads and deputy heads, in maintained schools in England and Wales for each year since 1973, in current prices and constant 1983–84 prices.
§ Sir Keith Joseph[pursuant to his reply, 1 March 1985, c. 309]: Based on information contained in the Department's records of teachers it is estimated that the average salaries (including allowances) paid to full-time teachers excluding heads and deputies in maintained primary and secondary schools in England and Wales were as follows:
