Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment which professional bodies have written to his Department expressing support for his planning proposals for London in the event of the abolition of the Greater London council.

The Association of London Borough Planning Officers indicated some support for the Government's revised proposals for unitary development plans as an improvement to their earlier proposals for separate structure and local plans, but has expressed detailed reservations about the arrangements for the preparation of strategic guidance.
