HC Deb 07 March 1985 vol 74 c563W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will publish in the Official Report a table showing what effect a 10 per cent. fall in the value of the dollar would have on expenditure on the EEC budget under the various headings relating to matters within his responsibility.

Mr. MacGregor

The Commission has estimated that, assuming all other factors were unchanged, a 10 per cent. fall in the value of the dollar against the ecu would increase FEOGA expenditure by about 1,000 million ecu. The increases would arise principally on export refunds for cereals and production aids for oilseeds and cotton.
