§ Mr. Jannerasked the Minister for the Civil Service what steps he is taking in order to update guidance on training in respect of personnel policies and procedures as they affect race relations in the Civil Service in an endeavour to counter possible discrimination; and by whom such steps will be taken.
§ Mr. HayhoeAll Government Departments have appointed equal opportunity officers whose responsibilities include guidance on race relations in respect of personnel policies and procedures.
It is now a requirement that all new personnel officers in the Civil Service should receive training either by the Civil Service college or by their own Department; equal opportunities is a theme and race relations a specific subject area covered by such training.
The Cabinet Office (Management and Personnel Office) is about to commission the development of a resource pack for departmental trainers in the wider aspects of equal opportunities including race relations.
