asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he will make a statement on the future of the job release scheme.

As my right hon. Friend announced to the House on 12 November 1984 at column 444, the present full time job release scheme will continue, with no change in the eligible age groups until 31 March 1986. The part-time job release scheme will similarly operate until 31 March 1986, also with no change in the eligibility age groups, but it is being revised to make it more attractive to both employers and employees. Details will be announced in the very near future.
