§ Mr. LuceOur view is that the reunification of the Korean peninsula is primarily a matter for the Koreans to pursue through direct contacts between the two sides. The meetings last November marked a welcome step in contacts between north and south. It is regrettable that this process has received a setback as a result of the recent North Korean insistence on postponement.
