HC Deb 04 March 1985 vol 74 c366W
Mr. Stott

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he is planning the closure of the carriageway crossings of the A40 between Wheatley and Oxford.

Mrs. Chalker

We are planning the closure of the gap at the junction of the A40 with the B4027 road to Islip, in order to improve safety and traffic flow. Draft orders, which will be open to objection in the usual way, will be published later this year. The situation at the Forest hill turn is under consideration. When traffic signals are operating for the Park and Ride entry at Risinghurst, it is proposed to ban right turns for eastbound traffic on the A40 at the gap opposite Neilson's offices. These manoeuvres will then take place at the traffic signals a short distance to the east.
