§ Mr. Peter ReesThe indices in real terms based on 1978–79=100 are as follows:
independent taxation of the investment income of husband and wife. My reply of 5 February 1985, c. 522, provided an estimate of £320 million as the total cost at 1984–85 levels for the income election described in paragraphs 46 to 50 of the Green Paper "The Taxation of Husband and Wife" (Cmnd. 8093). About £110 million of this is in respect of taxpayers over 65.
