HC Deb 01 March 1985 vol 74 c308W
Mr. Gareth Wardell

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what representations the General Council of British Shipping has made to Her Majesty's Government about the reorganisation of pilotage since 1983; and if he will place copies of such representations in the Library.

Mr. David Mitchell

Since 1983 we have received four representations from the GCBS wholly or partly concerning the reorganisation of pilotage. In addition the GCBS has made representations on a number of draft pilotage orders and byelaws providing for reorganisation in particular pilotage districts; and I and my officials have met the GCBS from time to time to discuss matters of mutual concern, including pilotage. The most recent representation contains the GCBS's comments on the "Consultative Document on Marine Pilotage" issued in December, and with its agreement I am placing copies of these comments in the Library.
