Mr. Mikardo

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many compulsory purchase orders were made by local authorities in England under part V of the Housing Act 1957 in each of the years 1982, 1983 and 1984; how many such orders have been recommended to be confirmed by a statutory inspector as a result of a public inquiry; and in how many instances he or his predecessors have decided not to accept the inspector's recommendation to confirm the order.
