HC Deb 24 June 1985 vol 81 cc270-1W
Mr. Deakins

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will list those United Kingdom companies which have gained export orders of £50,000 or more from the aid programme in the latest year for which figures are available.

Mr. Raison

The Overseas Development Administration does not maintain comprehensive statistics which show aid funded contracts broken down by individual British companies, but information is available in respect of contracts supported under the aid trade provision.

In 1984 the following companies gained export orders of £50,000 or more with ATP support:

  • Balfour Beatty Ltd.
  • Northern Engineering Industries/Parsons Ltd.
  • Sulzer Bros. (UK) Ltd.
  • General Electric Co. plc
  • Standard Telephones & Cables Ltd.
  • UK Airports Group
  • L. H. Manderstam
  • Halcrow
  • 271
  • Rural Investment Overseas Ltd.
  • Transmark
  • Watermeyer, Legge, Piesold and Ulman
  • Ewbank Consulting Ltd.
  • British Teleconsult

This list does not include British firms which as sub-contractors may have gained orders in excess of £50,000 from the lead companies listed above.
