§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many seminars have been organised jointly by the National Health Service training authority and the British Medical Association for the purpose of persuading clinicians to enter health service management; in what regions of England and Wales these have taken place; what proportion of them were attended by officials of his Department; and how many clinicians have so far been appointed as managers in the National Health Service.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeFifteen such seminars have been held, one in each English region and one in Wales. A medical officer from our Department attended the seminar held in Birmingham.
To date one doctor has been appointed as a regional general manager and 13 doctors have been appointed as district general managers.
