HC Deb 18 June 1985 vol 81 cc106-7W
42. Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the current maximum salary of an occupational therapist (senior grade 1) in the National Health Service.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

Since 1 April 1984, the maximum salary for a grade I senior occupational therapist in the National Health Service has been £8,747 per annum. On 6 June my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister made a statement on the Government's acceptance of the report of the Pay Review Body for nursing staff, midwives, and the professions allied to medicine. This will raise the maximum of the senior I occupational therapist scale by an increase of 16.6 per cent. to £10,200 during this financial year. The increase will be paid in two stages from 1 April 1985 and 1 February 1986.
