§ Mr. John PattenFigures on the total number of cases attended during a sample week are collected and published annually by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy in its report "Personal Social Services Statistics". Its latest report, which includes returns from only 74 per cent. of social services authorities in England, shows that during the week beginning 7 November 1983 home helps attended a total of 388,159 cases involving people aged 65 years and over.
