Mr. Nicholson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) what was the total expenditure by the Department of the Environment roads service for the financial year 1983–84 in the Armagh district council area;

(2) what was the total expenditure by the Department of the Environment roads service for the financial year 1983–84 in the Newry and Mourne district council area.

The Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland's roads service carries out its functions on a divisional basis; within the Craigavon division it is estimated that expenditure in the Armagh district council and Newry and Mourne district council areas was approximately £3.4 million and £4.6 million respectively.
