§ Mr. Austin Mitchellasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will estimate the number of fishermen contributing to the redundancy fund in 1975, 1977, 1979, 1980, 1982 and 1983 and the minimum individual total of contributions in each year.
§ Mr. Peter BottomleyI regret that this information is not available. It is only since April 1982 that any employee has contributed to the redundancy fund. The fund has for most of its existence been financed by an allocation from the secondary class 1 earnings-related contributions paid by employers in respect of employed earners. From April 1982 there has been an allocation from the employee's contribution. The amounts paid respectively by the employer and the employee are currently 0.15 per cent. and 0.25 per cent. of earnings. There are no figures which would enable contributions by fishermen to be analysed separately.
§ Mr. Austin Mitchellasked the Secretary of State for Employment how many fishermen have (a) been made redundant and (b) receive compensation for redundancy since 1 January 1982, by ports; and how many ex gratia payments have been made by his Department.

§ Mr. Peter BottomleyThere have not been instructions relating specifically to fishermen's redundancy cases.
